Tim Billingsley,
KD5CKP
Tim Billingsley holds
an Extra class license and degrees in
Computer Information Systems, Programming and Network
Administration. In addition, he has 20 years experience
working in IT on various platforms from micro to mainframe. In
searching for a better way to communicate over short distances, Tim
discovered amateur radio. He obtained his first license in 1997
and soon after passed his 5 wpm code test which opened up avenues for
long distance communication.
After being
licensed for a while Tim quickly discovered that there were many
different ways to communicate via amateur radio including but not
limited to the various digital modes, SSTV, and VoIP. He
now hosts a full time EchoLink station at his home QTH for the
Mid-South area to enjoy. The station operates on 146.470 simplex
with all standard EchoLink codes available.
Tim is a founding member of the Olive Branch Amateur Radio Club and is
serving as it's President in 2005. He is also a Reservist for
DeSoto County EMA, a member of the Midsouth Community
Emergency Response Team, DeSoto County ARES and RACES, and USAF
Region
4 MARS.
There aren't many things that Tim likes more than amateur radio and
serving his community but those are no match when it comes to spending
time with his 11 year old twin boys. If we know Tim, those boys
will be amateur operators before you know it.
